Have you ever met a person who just knew what they were doing with their life? Have you ever had moments in your life where you felt on purpose?
I know a boy who throughout his life was able to answer those two questions without a doubt. He began learning music as a child. All starting at church choir and then learning the ukulele and many other instruments from his brothers. He was a quick learner and it seemed that music was a natural for him. By seventeen he learned and played seven different instruments. Following his passion he became an audio engineer in Seattle. There he worked for one of the largest audio companies in the northwest and interned at one of the most prestigious studios also. He was truly blessed and grateful for all of it.
Then one day things began to fall apart. He started getting headaches in which he never had before. They started light and would come and go. As time passed it progressed and became worse, sharp and drawn out. He tried fighting it off naturally by getting more sleep, changing his diet. But it didn’t help much. At this point, like any other person he began to take medicine for it. The medicine alleviated some pain but as soon as the drug wore off the pain came back. So he took more medicine and for longer periods. But it kept getting worse and worse.
One thing about him was that he did not want to be the type of person who took medicine every day. After months of suffering he saw a medical doctor. They couldn’t find the cause of the problem and decided to prescribe him stronger medicine to cope with the pain. By this point the pain was so terrible that he couldn’t do anything anymore. He couldn’t work, he couldn’t sleep, he couldn’t live.
Throughout this time his co-worker kept suggesting him to see his chiropractor. He couldn’t understand why but trying something different may be better than what he was doing. So he took a chance. He saw Dr. Rebecca Long of Long Chiropractic. In their first appointment Dr. Long explained that the body has the ability to self-heal. She explained that the nervous system in the body helps control and coordinate the healing process and that there could be interferences within this system. These interferences may be part of the cause of his problems and she may be able to help.
She took x-rays and showed him that there were some parts of his spine misaligned. She further explained that these misalignments are stuck in place and causes nerve interferences. She called this a Subluxation. She explained that she could help him with those subluxations and this might help him regain his life.
Finding hope in this process he signed up with care and got his first chiropractic adjustment that day. Little did he know that this moment was going to change his life forever. Moments after the chiropractic adjustment his headache began to fade away. By the end of the day it was completely gone and he felt alive again. Two days later he went back for his appointment and explained to her that his headache was completely gone and never returned. The headache that prevented him from doing what he loved.
Before Dr. Long could ask him any questions he explained to her how thankful he was and asked her three questions, How does this work? Where can I learn it? And when can I start?
